Creativity


With the expansion of new media, it allows us to greater express our creativity and allow us to do things we may not be able to with only the access to old media. It also allows us to accomplish creative tasks more easily than without the new media advancements. For example, Sasha Frere-Jones explains in her article, 1+1+1=1, how Jeremy Brown used Digital Software to “take apart a song” and break it down but instrument and beat. This would be very difficult to do using solely the instruments; more people and time will be needed to execute this project. Jeremy Brown was then able to use his creativity to create a hit mashup. There are different creative uses of new media which can’t be done solely with old media. For example, illustrating a 3-D object and creating a Second Life.

       File sharing can be described as the act of sending or receiving files or media from one computer to another through the internet or a network. File sharing can be done through P2P, or peer-to-peer file sharing programs or software. P2P allows users to access files uploaded by other users over the internet. Wiki So Far

            On our class Wiki, I edited the “References” section in the Accounting in Social Media page. The links to the references for the article were incorrectly done. The links were copied and pasted under the “References” section. However, it should automatically appear in the section without pasting the text of the link to the sites when you type “<ref>https:// thewebsite <ref> in the body of the page right after the information from that site is written.             Another contribution that I made was adding a sub-section to the Fashion page. Under the “Media Application and Fashion”, I added a fifth section called “Screenshop App”. I described a new fashion app which launched one month ago called Screenshop . Advice

One thing that Baruch College is known for providing students is the college lifestyle. Being a commuter school to start with, it becomes difficult for students to engage with each other and become very social. Unless the students participate in clubs, there is not much opportunity for them to interact. One way this can be solved is by increasing the social media communication between the students at the college. Most students access their social media accounts, whether it’s Facebook or Twitter, a couple of times a day. Getting the students connected through social media will allow the students to have cultural exposure and will allow future connections.   Another suggestion I would make is to make the school website more user-friendly, and mobile friendly. There are many times when students want to access their schedule or easily email their professor, but it takes more time to access it on the phone than to find a computer and do it there.
